In 2002, 25 Bodies for the Management of Protected Areas were established in Greece<\/span>\u00a0according to Law No 3044\/2002. Among these newly founded Bodies, the Management Body of Aenos National Park was established with the aim to protect and manage Aenos National Reserve. The Management Body is a non-profit Private Legal Entity, supervised by the Hellenic Ministry of Environment and Energy and managed by a Board of Directors composed of 7 full and 7 alternative members and Dr George Drakatos, Seismologist, Research Director at National Observatory of Athens was assigned as the Chairman. Board of Directors’ composition ensures the representation of central administration (Ministry), local entities at all levels (Province, Municipality), local production agencies, environmental non-governmental organizations and the scientific community.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Management Body headquarters are established in Argostoli, Kefalonia, at the office of Environmental Information Center, in Koutavos.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2018, the territorial jurisdiction of the Management Body of Aenos National Park got increased by 5 extra sites of \u201cNatura 2000\u201d Network, according to Law No 4519 (GGI \u0391\u038425\/20.02.2018).<\/span><\/p>\n

The Management Body of Aenos National Park covers a total area of about\u00a058,000<\/b>\u00a0acres comprising both Kefalonia and Ithaca Islands. In this area, the following 6 Protected Sites of \u201cNatura 2000\u201d Network are included:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
